Hi I'm Nalla
Name: Nalla
Breed: Lab cross
Sex: Female
Size: Medium
Age: 18 Months
Nalla is a sweet dog, loves affection, and is very patient (i.e. when wiping paws after going out in the mud).
Nalla was crate trained to keep the worrisome lab behaviours like chewing etc. at a minimum, she was totally fine with her crate and I would give the cue “night, night Nalla” or “in your crate” and she’d dive on her bed happily in there. For the past two months, she’s been allowed and trusted with freedom during the day if we are at work. She has had a few chewing mishaps (the remote), but overall she’s really been good. Sometimes we get home and find she’s been cuddled up with a boot or a shoe, just to keep us close, which is super cute. She does not destroy things such as furniture etc., as I’ve heard labs can do (thankfully). She is also now free at night, and either sleeps beside the bed, or on her bed. We have never allowed her on the couch or on our bed as a personal preference, but I catch her sneaking on the couch once in a while.
She loves her stuffies and tennis balls are another favourite toy play with.
We take her almost daily to the off leash dog park (during all seasons), that has a huge forest, a couple of ponds and a central “wrestling ring”, so she can either be social in the ring with all the other dogs, or hike and swim, run and explore the forest. She is really well behaved being off leash and will run a bit ahead (usually not too far) and then wait, she never takes off, and always comes back when called.
She LOVES to swim! We’ve taken her to the cottage many times, and she swims in the lake, fetching a floating ring. She loves it.
She has been well socialized with other dogs and people frequently. We also worked with her and kids, she’s fine with kids, but needs to be corrected with her jumping, she still gets excited and forgets to keep “4 paws on the ground”, which usually resolves after the novelty of the new guest is over.
We also taught her proper touch, so she does not bite, if she does get a finger or hand she is very gentle, even if you are taking her bone or toy. I have never seen her display any type of aggression towards a person in the form of bearing teeth etc., she has barked at the odd person, but she’s also not a frequent “barker”.
I often take her to doggie daycare during the work day as well, and the owner says she interacts very well with all of the dogs, big and small, and even tries to show newer dogs the ropes while playing.
