Hi I'm Byron

Name: Byron
Breed: Wire haired mix breed
Gender: Male
Size: Large
Age: 2
Cat: No
Dogs: No
Kids: 14+

This handsome man has been nick named "Mr. Happy Pants" because he is always willing to
greet with a big happy smile and a nice BIG hug! He is great on leash and great meeting new
dogs, however, he must be the only animal in the home because he does exhibit guarding
issues with other dogs.
Byron LOVES to go for walks and loves to cuddle. He literally gives human hugs and will lather
your face full of kisses because he is just so happy to be with people! Although he is such a
confident boy at times, he does need help in some areas. Byron was saved from life on the
streets as a young boy, only to end up in a hoarding situation. This may have prevented him
from the proper conditioning towards different environments, which is essential during an
animals developmental stages in life. We also think he may have been hit or had things tossed
at him (on the streets) as he is very head shy, however, he has not shown any aggression.
Byron will literally hit the floor and close his eyes as if he is anticipating something bad to
happen if something is held over his head or moves towards him abruptly. When entering
places unknown to him, he tends to hug the walls and may need some encouraging to move
forward. Byron is doing great walking around traffic but may stop and hug his handlers leg
when a large truck or loud bike goes by. He is doing much better with vehicles as less than a
week ago he would try to run away.
Byron is clean in his kennel and will bark for attention if there are any staff/volunteers in sight.
Although he looks happy in his kennel (in the photo), he is actually very stressed out - he was
just happy to be getting attention when his photo was taken.
Byron is such a sweet and loving boy who, after all he has been though, just needs his time to
shine!
We are seeking a home for Byron with no other animals, no children under 14 years. No
apartments. A quiet, routine environment would be ideal for him.
